Friday 26 January 2024, Port of Spain – On Friday 26th January 2024, The Brydens Group broke ground on the site of its latest project, a state-of-the-art regional distribution centre at the eTeck Industrial Park, Factory Road, Chaguanas.
“The inception of this regional distribution centre is strategically constructed to facilitate our expansion aspirations, setting us apart from other distributorships,” shared Michael Conyers, Deputy Chairman of the Brydens Group, at the sod-turning ceremony on Friday. “Recognising the potential for growth and expansion beyond our twin-island nation, we have realigned our objectives to harmonise with those of Caricom and to actively contribute to a cohesive Caribbean Community.”
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, and Councillor Melissa Jadoonanan, Deputy Mayor of Chagunas, were in attendance to mark this milestone event with the Brydens Group.
At an investment of over US$29 million, the expansive facility will cover over 250,000 square feet. It will offer dry, temperature-controlled and bonded storage, preserving product quality and enhancing the company’s export capacity.
Conyers emphasised that this venture also underscores the company’s commitment to the development of Trinidad and Tobago. The construction project is set to bring substantial benefits to local contractors and create nearly 500 jobs.
Last year, the Brydens Group celebrated its 100th year of business in Trinidad and Tobago and successfully listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange. The Group is made up of several well-known subsidiaries including A.S. Brydens and Sons, Bryden pi, F.T. Farfan, Franco Trading & Distribution Limited and Micon Marketing.
The project is spearheaded internally by Scott Franco, (Group) Head of Shared Services & Special Project.
